Build Your Own Bundle on Shopify, without an app

A step-by-step guide to building a "the more you add, the more you save" bundle builder on your own Shopify store, using Claude Code as your developer. No bundle app, no monthly fee.

You set the direction. Claude Code writes the code, runs the commands and tests it with you. Every prompt below is copy-paste ready.

Quick start · the 20 minute version

  1. Duplicate your live theme. You only ever build on the copy.
  2. Pick the products for the builder, grouped into tabs, and your discount tiers.
  3. Open Claude Code in an empty folder and paste the Step 0 prompt.
  4. Let it build the page on your dev theme, then test it on your phone.

What you end up with

  • A bundle builder page on your store: category tabs, "Add to box" buttons, a live box panel and a progress bar showing the next discount unlock.
  • Tiered savings, for example 3 items 15% off, 4 items 20%, 5 items 25%, 7+ items 30%.
  • One clean line in the cart, "Build Your Own Box (5 items)". The order still contains every product as its own line, so fulfillment and inventory work exactly as before.
  • The discount shown everywhere: on the page, in the cart and at checkout, labelled "Bundle 25% off (5 items)".
  • A safety net. It only touches items added through the builder. If anything fails, the cart behaves like a normal cart. One command switches it all off.

How it works (the 3 pieces)

2. Cart merge A Shopify Function (Cart Transform) Groups the tagged items and shows them as one "Build Your Own Box" line
3. Tier discount A Shopify Function (Discount) Counts the items in the box and applies the right percentage

Pieces 2 and 3 live in a small private app that you create with the Shopify CLI. It only exists on your store.
